1951 Standard Split!

1951 Standard Split Beetle, Beautiful Professional Restoration!

This rare 1951 Standard Split Beetle has undergone a complete body-off-pan restoration by Robert Cook of Maryland and has barely been driven since it was completed a couple years ago. It is currently part of a large car collection and still looks as fresh and beautiful as the day it was completed.

Some of the many details to note include the gorgeous L32 Dark Blue paint, body and pan are matching, the 25hp engine, full crash box transaxle, cable brakes, 5 16 inch wheels, ribbed semaphores, correct "notched" front door window glass, ribbed bumpers, gorgeous Standard cloth interior, the list goes on.

The body and paint are way above average and are simply stunning.  It shows extremely well and presents as a freshly finished car and even the underside is just as clean as the topside.  Details to note include the correct Standard flat front hood, the early round shaft wipers, correct pope's nose Split W decklid, H rear apron with no cutouts, mint/possibly NOS Hassia taillights, single tip exhaust, and even the antenna "bump" above the windshield has not been lost in this 1951's 68 years on Earth!  It is as pretty as they come.

The interior is beautiful, fresh, and was thoroughly restored in the proper Standard Beetle style with the short headliner, black 3 spoke steering wheel, Standard blanking plate in the dash pod, ribbed rubber floor mats, Standard wing nut seat mounting system, original brown bakelite dome light, German square weave carpeting, correct Standard Split window winders and inner door handles, etc.  It is remarkably clean and shows no wear since completion.

Mechanically the car is fully turnkey and impressively more accurate than most 1951's out there these days.  A tap of the pedal, pull the choke, push the starter button, and it fires off quickly and smoothly.  Since completion it has been maintained and periodically exercised by well respected local Volkswagen mechanic, Jim Fowler.  Details to note include the super clean 25hp engine (not matching numbers), the correct full crash box transaxle, proper Standard cable brakes, and of course it is still 6 volt, too.  It runs, idles, and drives beautifully and has a nice positive and tight feel as no stone was left unturned during the complete head-to-toe, body-off-pan restoration.

Here's your chance to own a gorgeous 68 year old Split Beetle for less than the cost of just the professional restoration alone, after you supply the car and parts, and without the years long wait!  Thanks!
