1953 Smooth Gate Single!

March 1953 Barndoor Smooth Gate Single Cab, Beautiful, High Quality, Magazine Featured, and 14th Oldest Known!

Here's a gorgeous, stylish, well-built, and special early Single Cab that was treated to a full rotisserie build with everything being restored, rebuilt, powder coated, replated, and refinished.  It started out as a well-above-average Smooth Gate Truck, infinitely better than the average destroyed example on the infrequent occasion that they surface.  The owner is a very experienced collector and a professional mechanic with an eye for detail and it shows in this Truck.  Smooth Gates are at the top of the food chain in the Single Cab World, the rarest of all Single Cabs, and this example is one of the nicest of its kind in existence.

Some of the many features to note include:

*March 1953 Barndoor Truck, 14th oldest Single Cab currently known in the World
*Original Canadian Truck with Volkswagen Toronto tag still intact
*Featured in AirMighty Magazine, Issue 21
*2180cc Engine with Dual Weber Carbs, loads of nice Performance Parts, and a Ceramic Coated and Polished A1 Exhaust
*Built Transaxle from Rancho Transaxles
*Quality Lowered Suspension
*BBT Sprint Star Wheels
*CB Performance Front Disc Brakes
*Correct Ribbed Semaphores, restored, activate on 6 volts and flash on 12 volts via custom built voltage regulator
*Correct Flat Lens Bubble Taillights, dual filament, wired to flash and work with original brakelight, so 3 brakelights for added safety
*Original Upside Down Speedometer, restored and recalibrated by North Hollywood Speedometer
*New Wiring Harness from Wiring Works
*Original Transaxle, Beam, Brakes, and all 5 match-dated 16 inch Barndoor Wheels are included, too!

The body and paint are very nice, refinished in the factory color of Dove Blue, and the Truck has been driven approximately 7,000 hassle-free miles since completion.  Details to note include the correct smooth gates, correct Barndoor long-ribbed front bumper, seamed doglegs, correct original Barndoor cab doors, early Brakelight Decklid, proper flat lensed bubble taillights, beautiful ribbed semaphores, European fluted headlights, new wood strips in the bed, and the underside of the Bus was nicely painted/detailed as well.  This one is super clean, was thoroughly built, and only has a few paint imperfections and stone chips from normal driving.

The interior is equally as beautiful, is very faithful the original design, and features include the original Barndoor front seat that has been reupholstered, the nice grey commercial paneling with proper Barndoor square corner pockets, gorgeous restored early Barndoor upside down speedometer and Bakelite speedometer faceplate, original dash grab handle, footrest bar, Barndoor 3 spoke steering wheel, dual fuse box speedo pod, and rubber floor mat, just to name a few.  It is very sterile, accurate, high quality, and about as nice as can be.

Mechanically this 1953 has been treated to many quality performance upgrades including the fully balanced and blueprinted 2180cc engine, CB Performance stroker crank, big bore pistons and cylinders, dual Weber carbs, big valve heads that were ported and polished, ratio rocker arms, a bigger cam, deep oil sump, heavy duty oil pump, a restored Bosch 010 distributor, and the spendy A1 Sidewinder ceramic coated exhaust with fully polished muffler, too.  The Prostreet transaxle came from Rancho Transaxles and includes heavy duty side covers and heavy duty short axles.  The front beam was built from scratch and includes adjusters, dropped spindles, and a set of CB disc brakes.  The rear brakes are Type 3 and the Sprint Star wheels are wrapped in low profile Continental tires.  This Truck is well-engineered, dialed, and has been enjoyed on road trips all over Western Canada to and from shows.  It cruises comfortably at 75mph and the owner invites the buyer to fly in and drive it home as it's as reliable as they come.

This is your chance to get a special, rare, thoroughly refreshed, stylish, and immediately enjoyable Barndoor Smooth Gate Single Cab at a tremendous value.  Somebody is going to get a great Truck at a huge savings to the cost of a professional build of the same caliber.
