1955 Wolfsburg Standard Microbus, Original
Palm Green over Sand Green Paint!
This is a very solid and
presentable early Bus that is still displaying the majority of its
original Palm Green and Sand Green paint. It has been recently
refreshed mechanically and is ready to cruise and enjoy.
Some of
the many features include pressed bumpers, brakelight decklid, original
bubble taillights, original reflectors, and safari windows. Other cool
Wolfsburg Bus features include the tubular transaxle hanger, seamed
doglegs, single position rear hatch, and most of the original dual
logoed sekurit glass.
The body is in good shape and displays
the vast majority of the original paint. There have been some touchups
around to keep the appearance
consistent and nice. There is surprisingly little rust for a 55 year
old Bus. The front floor corners have some perforation and thinned
metal which could be dealt with at some point in the future. The
undercarriage is very nice, dry, solid, and will likely impress you.
There are a few flaws on the body worth mentioning including a dent in
the cargo rocker, a small puncture hole in the front of the roof, and a
small hole cut in the passengers corner near the battery. The paint has
a super cool fade to it making this one great for early Bus and patina
lovers out there.
The interior is mostly original with original
Sand Green paint, original Soft Green interior panels, and
reupholstered correct flat backrest front seat. A peek beneath the
floor mats shows impressively solid original floors plenty good for here
in California and only requiring a small amount of work to pass a
European inspection. The
dash is very nice, uncut, and still has the original radio block off
plate in place as well as the original clear needle and green faced
70mph speedometer.
Mechanically the Bus was recently serviced
and refreshed by the guys at Kustom Coach Werks in Grand Junction,
Colorado. They gave the Bus a complete brake job, new Firestone 6.40-15
bias ply tires which are mounted on nice original paint rims, as well
as going through the 36hp engine to get it dialed in and pretty. The
Bus is a full driver and is a well-received regular attendee at local
Southern California VW shows.
This is a great opportunity to land
a very respectable ,fully enjoyable, and very early original paint Bus
for a very reasonable price. Thanks!
