1957 23 Window Survivor!

Early 1957 23 Window Deluxe Sunroof Microbus, Excellent Original Paint Survivor!

Here is one of the most spectacular and desirable Early Deluxe Buses on the market.  This early 1957 23 Window is still wearing its remarkably strong and glossy factory Sealing Wax Red and Chestnut Brown paint, it's complete with all the correct early seats, both snowflake middle and rear seat kick panels, all stock running gear, and is as solid of an original body as you could hope to find anywhere in the world today.  Nice and untampered original paint examples like this are few and far between and are very infrequently seen on the public market!

Some of the many features and critical details to note include it being an early 1957 with the brakelight decklid, original bubble taillights, NOS glass reflectors, both original pressed bumpers with Deluxe trim in excellent shape, all the Deluxe body trim, nicely repainted original 15 inch Bus wheels with the original Deluxe trim rings, all 3 correct flat backrest seats, beautiful and fresh mohair headliner, all the original interior panels, the cool accessory ambulance style side step (currently stuck, needs servicing), the 36hp engine, split case transaxle, freshly rebuilt sunroof with new quality canvas cover, correct early Deluxe sun visor, correct original long arc fat base mirror arm, the list goes on!  This one is impressively complete and accurate where so many are lacking and drop the ball.

The body is in very impressive condition for being in the 60 year old original paint.  Patina lovers like us consider it beautiful although it does have the expected and normal dings, chips, wear, and flaws as you can clearly see from the pics.  It is impressively dry, probably as solid as you could hope to find in an unrestored example these days.  It has the correct flat doors, thick doglegs, the brakelight decklid, flat wheel wells, outtie vents with trim, correct original pressed bumpers, etc.  The worst spot on the body is the lower cargo door where the paint has lifted and bubbled.  Being that the Bus is so original, the owner opted to leave it alone, and enjoy it for its originality.  The floors are super solid as is the undercarriage and original belly pans which still have the factory undercoating intact!  Early original paint Deluxes are simply never this good.

The interior is complete, nice, and features the correct early seats that were recently expertly reupholstered by Mark Lapriore.  He also went through the sunroof and installed his high quality canvas sunroof cover, too.  Mark also did a beautiful job installing a new mohair headliner which is far nicer and more accurate to original than most you'll ever see.  The interior panels are original and impressively nice for their age.  Other details to note include the gorgeous and uncut original paint dash, the German square weave carpeting on the rear luggage shelf, the polished jail bars, Deluxe rear seat luggage bar, the original rubber floor mats, and there are remnants of old service decals on the seat stand, too.

Mechanically the Bus is all stock with a nice running 1192cc 36hp engine that was rebuilt not many miles ago, a stock split case reduction box transaxle, stock suspension, original wheels, stock 6 volt electrical system, and a nice set of Firestone 6.40-15 bias ply tires as well.  It was recently professionally serviced and it is only driven during nice weather.

This is a rare opportunity to get such a nice time capsule early Deluxe of this caliber.  Thanks!
