SOLD!  1957 Oval Window Beetle, All Original, Original Horizon Blue Paint, 74,000 Original Miles!

Here we have a very cool, super solid, and extremely original Horizon Blue 1957 Oval Window Beetle with just over 74,000 original miles!  This stylish survivor was imported to California from Canada a couple years back and has had just two registered owners in its 53 years.  Aside from the mild lowering this Oval is bone stock and a super cool cruiser.

Some of the cool features include cool patina appearance, completely original interior, original running gear, cool original chrome Canadian dealer fender badge, early Bosch logoed headlights, original dual logoed Sekurit glass, vintage water transfer decals, and original Volkswagen scripted key with Canadian dealer key fob.

The body is in good shape, straight, showing some small parking lot type dings around as you'd expect on a unrestored 1950's Beetle, and is still displaying the vast majority of its factory Horizon Blue paint.  The icepick handle doors, rear H apron, W decklid, flat hood, bullet fenders, rear fenders, front apron, German bumpers, two-toned wheels, etc. are all correct.  The bumper chrome is showing its age but they match the fade and wear beautifully.  The only rust I found on the car was at the bottom rear edge of the passenger's front fender and the bottom rear edge of the driver's rear fender.  Additionally the decklid spring perch will need repair as it broke free in the typical way.  Other than that the body is mega solid as is the pan including the battery area.  Patina lovers will fall in love with the look of this one.

The interior is completely original and factory, paint, door panels, mohair headliner, German carpet, European style woven cloth seat covers, rubber floor mats, steering wheel, everything!  The headliner has some small tears in it and the backrests of the front seats have started to come apart but other than that the interior is holding up very well for its more than half a century of unmolested life.

Mechanically this Oval is stock with the original 36hp 1192cc engine, split case/first gear non-synchro transaxle, original 6 volt electrical system, and it has been lowered slightly via a two inch narrowed adjustable front beam with dropped spindles and the rear spring plates being turned up a tooth or two.  The tires have good tread and they are mounted on the original paint two-toned wheels and topped of with the original German painted logo chrome hubcaps.  It is a fully driveable cruiser although it could benefit from a little service and a tune up. 

This super cool survivor Oval offers a lot of style and originality for a very affordable price.
