1958 Karmann Ghia Coupe

1958 Low Light Karmann Ghia Coupe, Beautiful, Needs Finishing!

Here is a very pretty early Karmann Ghia that started with an excellent base car over 15 years ago, was painted very nicely for a driver, is nearly complete, and just needs some finishing.  It's not a show car but it is way above average for the caliber of Low Lights we see offered these days!

The body was repainted 15 years ago and still looks plenty nice today as it's been stored indoors since.  There are a few flaws around including a couple scuffs on the driver's rear quarter panel (looks like it will polish out), a few chips around the front windshield sill, and a couple shallow dime-sized bubbles on the passenger's front fender.  I tried to get some pics to show them but couldn't get them to show very well.  They are minor but can be seen when they are pointed out.  Overall the car would look great for a driver and we've all seen guys competing at shows with Ghias that aren't as clean and nice as this one.  Details to note include it having both European style bumpers, correct 15 inch Lemmerz beauty rings that need to be restored, all glass it present including the chrome moldings, correct early Ghia nose badge, correct Karmann rocker badge, and excellent if not NOS taillights as well.  The nose was lightly tapped just center of the driver's headlight, was worked out, and can only be seen by the little hammer marks on the inside.  The floor pan is exceptionally solid, this is a dry car!

The interior is very nice and faithful to the original design.  It was professionally done with high-end German square weave carpeting, excellent restored seats with matching door panels, mohair headliner, correct steering wheel with the proper 1958-1959 badge, super clean gauges, correct low light Ghia ignition switch, original rear view mirror and hard plastic sun visor assembly, the list goes on!  Just needs some finishing but all the critical items are there, close to the finish line!

Mechanically the car will require some refreshing, rebuilding, and assembly.  The package includes a generationally appropriate 36hp engine, correct 15 inch smoothies, and a nice set of 5.60-15 Denman wide white wall bias ply tires, too.

This is a great opportunity for somebody to get an exceptionally clean Low Light Ghia Coupe that is far cleaner than most, impressively complete, the hardest work has been done, and the finish line is in sight!  It won't take long nor much more investment to have this one ready to enjoy.  Thanks!
