1959 23 Window Deluxe Microbus, Restored!
Here we have a
beautiful Sealing Wax Red and Light Beige Grey 23 Window Sunroof Deluxe
Microbus with very few miles since completion of the restoration. It
is very pretty throughout, complete, and ready to enjoy.
Some of
its many features include very nice original safari windows, great
running stock 1192cc 36hp engine, all 3 rows of seats, factory
accessory ambulance fan, being a desirable 6 popout window model with
long spoon popout latches, and being as detailed and pretty on the
underside as it is up top.
The paint and body are excellent, far
above average, and even the floors and belly pans are beautifully
painted in Sealing Wax Red. The body was finished very well and the
"no shortcut" approach is very apparent. All of the window and body
rubber has been replaced with new as well. Some of the cool details
include bullet turn signals, round glass taillights, fully polished
Deluxe aluminum trim, icepick style door handles, and the bumpers are
European style blades with the longer European spec aluminum trim which
is rarely seen here in the States.
The
interior is completely refreshed with new styled-after-original
interior panels, seat covers, headliner, and black rubber floor mats.
They are well done, comfortable, and very respectable as they are but
the Bus could also be seen as deserving of more faithful to original
materials such as what are offered by Octavio's or Lenny of West Coast
Classics. That kind of detail could help the Bus be brought up to the
next level and the max of its potential if that were desired. The dash
is beautiful with a correct 70mph clear needle speedometer, original
radio block off plate, and the correct early Deluxe clock in place as
well.
Mechanically the Bus has fully rebuilt stock
mechanicals including a very nice 36hp engine featuring a correct
single tip muffler, rebuilt transaxle, stock 6 volt electrical system,
all new brakes throughout, a completely rebuilt and detailed front
beam, and as new radial white stripe tires. The Bus runs very well and
is a pleasure to drive.
