1959 European Beetle, 90,000 Original Miles, Semaphores!
Here we
have a true barn find early
European Beetle. This beauty was literally pulled straight out of a
barn in Idaho where it spent the last 6 years. Prior to that, it had
spent more than the previous 20 years in a barn in Montana! It has now
been super thoroughly revived, serviced, and detailed and is being
enjoyed regularly.
Some of the many features include the beautiful
one-year-only original color of Mignonette Green (L14), perfect working
semaphore turn signals, very nice original European woven cloth seat
upholstery, original interior panels, great running original 36hp
engine, rock solid original floor pan, near new Firestone bias ply wide
white wall tires, original VW accessory parcel shelf, working early
Motorola radio, everything works, one key works ignition and door lock,
just over 90,000 original miles, and much much more!
The body and
paint are in nice shape as you can see and the exterior has a one time
respray from approximately 30 years
ago in the original Mignonette Green color. There are lots of little
stone chips, tiny scratches, and tiny imperfections in the paint as you
ought to expect in a 3 decade old repaint but it still displays very
nicely and holds a good shine. The beauty is that it most definitely
isn't too nice to drive and its appearance still receives compliments
consistently. All four fenders were replaced many years ago with
quality replacements and the front apron, flat front hood, rear H apron,
decklid, and icepick doors are all correct. The original pan is
absolutely rock solid, even under the battery! The only rust we've
found on the whole car are a couple very small blisters on the lower
drivers side, both being about the size of a quarter. All the glass is
original with the exception of the windshield which is brand new.
The
interior is very presentable with very well-preserved original European
spec woven cloth seat
upholstery, very nice original door panels, and original paint
throughout. The cloth headliner, carpeting, and VW/Wegu logoed rubber
floor mats were all replaced long ago and are still very nice today.
The dash is beautiful, uncut, and even has a near mint original glove
box liner intact. People are frequently blown away at how nice and
original the interior is.
Mechanically this early Beetle is bone
stock, fully dialed in, and has had a laundry list of servicing and
revival throughout. It features the original 1192cc 36hp engine, split
case transaxle, 6 volt electrical system, and everything works including
the radio, horn, semaphores, license light, interior dome light, and
heat!
Some of the service performed include new battery, master
cylinder, wheel cylinders, rubber brake hoses, wheel bearings, grease
seals, axle boots, gear oil change, new transaxle mounts, new shift
coupler, new fuel line, front end lubed,
near new and
correct Firestone 5.60-15 bias ply white wall tires, full tuneup
including new Bosch plug wires, oil change, valve adjustment, new fuel
pump, rebuilt carb, new quality chrome muffler tips, new Continental fan
belt, new German rear main seal, new European bumpers, new original
style window rubber, and more! The original early vacuum advance
distributor is currently being restored and will be included as well. A
quick tap of the gas pedal and pull of the choke and this old Beetle
starts right up and runs and drives beautifully.
Here is your chance to own this beautiful, rock solid, and fully turnkey early European Beetle. Thanks!
