1962 Right Hand Drive Sunroof Notchback, Show Winner!
This
beautiful 1962 Right Hand Drive Sunroof Notchback is fresh off a First
Place win recently at the VW Classic in Irvine, California. It
has been the subject of many feature articles in VW magazines Worldwide,
a cover car, and has won multiple trophies including Best in Class as
well as Best Engine.
Some of the numerous features include
beautiful Polar Silver paint, factory sunroof, professional right hand
drive conversion, push button dash, incredible West Coast Classics
interior, trophy winning dual carbed 1776cc engine from VW Paradise,
Porsche Gas Burner replica wheels, Kustom Coach Werks 3 inch narrowed
beam with CB Performance disc brakes, NOS bumpers, rare NOS 1962 Right
Hand Drive dash
pad, EMPI style wood
rimmed steering wheel, Gene
Berg performance shifter, European side marker lights, accessory popout
windows, fully restored and detailed pan, all new rubber throughout,
restored and replated hardware, the list goes on. The approach was to
build a full tilt show car and its numerous bits of recognition through
magazine features and the long list of awards speaks for itself.
The
body and paint is very nice and ultra clean. It is finished in VW
Polar Silver which compliments it very well. The body is extremely
straight, was completely bare metaled throughout during the restoration,
and it is very very nice inside, outside, and underneath as well. All
of the work was carried out at Kustom Coach Werks of Grand Junction
Colorado who have built too many beautiful show quality VWs over the
years to count. Their full-on approach has produced a extremely nice
and thoroughly executed show quality Notchback.
The interior
features a custom Brick Red
theme and was stitched up
by West Coast Classics of Fullerton, California. A custom mohair
headliner was also installed which is beautiful and tasteful. During
the build they located and installed an extremely rare NOS Right Hand
Drive dash pad which looks great. They also installed a custom Gene
Berg performance reduced throw shifter with a custom Right Hand Drive
KCW handle. High quality oatmeal German square weave carpets were
installed throughout including above the engine bay. This Notch is
extremely sterile in every corner and no detail has been left
unaddressed.
Mechanically the car features a potent 90 horsepower
1776 cc engine with EMPI HPMX dual carbs, ported heads, Engle 120 cam
with straight cut cam gears, custom Bugpack over the top header and
muffler system, and it has been so well detailed that it has won
trophies for Best Engine. The transaxle is a fresh Rancho freeway flyer
unit with heavy duty side plates and heavy
duty axles. The front end is a KCW 3 inch narrowed beam with CB
Performance disc brakes and the rear are stock drum brakes which have
been machined to the Porsche bolt pattern. The stance is very low and
looks great both standing still and out on the road.
This rare
and early Notchback is hard to top and is being offered at a significant
savings compared to what it would cost to build one to a similar level
in the event that you could even find one. It is fully dialed, super
clean, and ready to enjoy. Thanks!
