1963 15 Window Deluxe Bus, Original Turkis and Blue White Paint!
Here's
one that is hard to not fall in love with. It's an early 1963 15
Window Deluxe Bus with beautifully sun faded original paint, complete
and fully restored interior, good running stock stale air 40hp engine,
and Firestone 6.40 bias ply tires mounted on original paint
wheels with original trim rings. The Bus is absolutely turnkey, rock
solid, and ready to enjoy.
Some of the many features include
faded original company logos, high quality and very faithfully executed
interior from Lenny at West Coast Classics, being a desirable 6 popout
window model, original accessory cab steps, and a original HWE full
length roof rack in excellent shape as well.
The
body is in excellent
shape, over 95% original Turkis and Blue White paint throughout, with
only a few small areas having been touched up. The lower rearward cargo
door and short rocker saw minor rust repairs and paint blending.
Additionally the paint around the rain gutters had peeled in places and
surface rust started so those areas were repaired and blended very
well. Finally the Turkis on the nose has resprayed due to some
unsightly stone chips. The paint has been buffed and waxed and has a
extremely cool natural fade pattern that is loved by so many purists. I
personally love naturally patinaed early Buses and you'd be hard
pressed to find one with a more attractive appearance than this one.
The body is exceptionally straight, very dry, and features all of the
correct doors, decklid, apron, slash cut bumpers with correct Deluxe
aluminum trim, full Deluxe molding including rocker spears, etc. It's
not often that you find a 47
year old original paint Bus in this exceptional condition.
The
interior has been expertly refreshed by World famous Vintage VW interior
specialist, Lenny Copp of West Coast Classics in Fullerton,
California. All of the correct seats have new and accurate covers, all
new "Como Green" panels, new headliner, black rubber floor mats,
polished original jail bars, Deluxe rear seat luggage bar, kick panels,
etc. The uncut original paint Blue White dash is in excellent shape and
features the correct Deluxe clock and a uncut radio hole although there
is currently no radio installed. Early Bus interiors are frequently a
weak point but rest assured that this one is on the money and extremely
faithful to the way it looked when the Bus was new back in 1963.
Mechanically
the Bus is bone stock and features a great running stale air 40hp
engine, stock reduction box transaxle, and is as roadworthy as any
nearly half century old Bus
could be. It made a successful trip from San Diego to the San
Francisco Bay Area just a couple years back to give you an idea that
it's far more than just pretty. The Bus is currently fully turnkey and
enjoyed regularly.
This Bus is priced to sell and I'm certain
will move quickly so don't miss the boat as examples like this don't
come up often. Thanks!
SOLD!
