1963 Crew Cab, Turkis, Clean Driver!
This is a clean and
presentable 1963 Double Cab Pickup Truck that is perfect for cruising
and using. It is respectable but not a diamond so it is an excellent
example to relax and enjoy.
It features an attractive and shiny
recent respray in L380 Turkis (German name for Turquoise), an upgraded
1600cc dual port engine, 12 volt conversion, new radial tires, safari
windows, a custom built stereo system, and it is ready for some fun.
The owner's young children love taking it out for a spin and have
already voiced their displeasure with their Dad that he is letting it
go.
The body is good overall, not great, but looks nice for a
daily drivable nearly 47 year old Commercial work truck. It is
generally straight, the gates are fair to good with the normal issues
you expect to see including some rust in the bottoms, some corrosion
around the hinges, and normal dents and dings from use. They function
well and don't require any immediate attention. The bed is extremely
solid, above average condition, but shows normal signs of use from its
years. Both bumpers are the correct early slash cut units and are very
nice. The body is straight and solid although the front floor corners
have been previously patched and the rear cargo floor has been replaced
with a flat sheet of steel. There are some signs of patches and skims
of filler down along the bottoms of the rockers as well. The
jackpoints are all clean and solid although I did notice some normal
perforation on one outrigger that will eventually need replacement if
the Truck is restored at some point in the distant future. It ought to
look nice for some time to come but there are some things that will
eventually need to be refinished to a higher standard to make this Crew
Cab spectacular.
The
interior is clean, complete, and features nice and correct grey
pressboard paneling, the original seats feature new cloth centers
stitched up to the original commercial grey side and lower sections of
upholstery. The dash is clean and nice, uncut and has a custom in-dash
stereo unit in the factory radio hole. A clean and custom roof mounted
speaker box/bow was built to provide modern sounds in the Truck without
altering the original look of the interior. Very comfortable,
functional, and still maintaining that stock early 1960's Commercial
Truck feel.
Mechanically this Crew Cab is very nice and regularly enjoyed. It
features a great running 1600cc dual port engine with a new stock carb,
Bosch 009 distributor, an alternator, and a stock Bus exhaust system. The correct 15 inch Bus wheels are in great
shape and sport near new slightly oversized radial tires which make the
ride very comfortable. The electrical system has been upgraded to 12
volts for added reliability, brighter lights, and to power the modern
sound system.
This is a clean early Crew Cab that is priced according to its
condition. It is ready to enjoy and will certainly get lots of looks
and compliments as it has for the current owner for the years that he
has had it.
