1964 Type34 Karmann Ghia

1964 Type 34 Karmann Ghia 1500 S, Clean Driver!

Here's a relatively rare, clean, and very enjoyable 1964 Type 34 Karmann Ghia 1500 S.  The car saw a restoration some years ago and is showing some signs of age now but still displays well, is mechanically sound, and is fully enjoyable as it is.

This early Type 34 would definitely suit someone who is seeking an unusual and nice looking Volkswagen that is mechanically healthy and isn't too nice to actually relax and drive regularly.

There are a few cool features and accessories on the car including being a push button dash Type 34,  a vintage Hirschmann Red jewel-tipped antenna, a Formula V steering wheel, cool fresh air scoops, a Hurst shifter, and stylish Empi Sprint Star replica wheels, too.

The body is in pretty good shape with some age on the restoration beginning to show.   There are some light dings, a dent in the passenger's rocker, and some little rust blisters popping up down low in the normal places.  Additionally there are some pinholes starting in the previously patched battery tray.  It's all been treated with POR-15 and is a generally solid car besides the spots shown in the extensive pics on my site at www.holygrailgarage.com  The original chrome is in OK shape with some light blistering showing but it is plenty nice for a driver class car such as this.  It's a nice looking car to enjoy as it is or possibly restore if you're the picky perfectionist.

The interior is very clean, presentable, and is also showing light signs of wear on the older restoration.  The headliner is very nice as are the door panels and seat covers.  The dash is in great shape and even has a period radio installed.

Mechanically this Type 34 is healthy and features a 1600cc single port engine with S dual carbs, a recently rebuilt transaxle with freeway gearing and Beetle short axles for additional rear tire clearance, recently rebuilt original wide 5 brakes, and the original 6 volt electrical system including a spendy Optima gel cell battery.  It runs and drives well and all of the electrical is working with the exceptions of the fog lights and clock which are not wired up.  There is a huge stack of maintenance records, bits of history, and some old photographs that will also accompany the car in the sale.  This very car was previously owned by well-known collector, Blue Nelson.

Overall this Type 34 is a very clean, respectable, and reasonably priced collector's item that will only gain value in the years to come.

REDUCED!  Now just $10,900  Thanks!

Please note that this Karmann Ghia is located in Washington State.
