1965 Porsche 911, Beautifully Restored, Matching Numbers, Top-Shelf Example!
This
gorgeous and rare first year 911 started as an excellent California
black plate survivor before the owner sent it out to one of the World's
foremost
authorities on early 911's for a NOS-part-filled professional
restoration. The results are simply stunning and the car is both
beautiful and a great performer on the road. We are confident that this
is one of the finest examples of these special and legendary early
911's currently in the United States.
The paint, body, and chrome
are absolutely first rate and it is finished in the factory original
color of Polo Red. The paint job alone cost $12,000 and that was
starting with a very dry, straight, and clean original California car.
All of the door and body gaps are clean and even as you can see as
well. It has been driven sparingly and garage kept since the completion
of the restoration so it still presents excellently. The original key
is still present and works both doors, too.
The interior was very
faithfully and completely restored including locating the
difficult-to-find proper hounds tooth material
for the inserts on the seats. The fit and finish on the upholstery,
carpeting, door
panels, and headliner is excellent as well. The dash gauges are
original while the speedometer was professionally restored at the time
of the restoration. Therefore the 435 miles showing on the odometer are
the actual total miles it has been driven since the completion of the
restoration. The tachometer needle does jump a bit so it will
eventually need to be sent out for restoration to function as smoothly
as original.
Mechanically this 911 is an excellent driver and
features the factory original matching number flat 6 cylinder 2 liter
engine and 4 speed manual transaxle. The original Zenith carburetors
were swapped out in the very common fashion in favor of a set of Webers
which deliver better and more reliable performance. No need to worry,
the original Zeniths will also be included in the sale. The engine and
transaxle were completely rebuilt at the time of the restoration and
many NOS parts were used in
the process. The wheels are proper 15 inch chromies with the
hard-to-find correct early 911 hubcaps, too. The tires are
nice Michelin radials that still look new and have excellent tread as
well.
This 911 would be an awesome addition to any collector's stable. Thanks!
