1967 13 Window Driver!

1967 13 Window Deluxe, Titian Red and Light Beige Grey, Fun Driver With Original Interior!

This 1967 has served as an enjoyable driver Bus for the owner for several years now.  When he purchased it, it had typical lower rust issues.  He welded in new rockers, swapped on a nicer set of cargo doors, redid the front seat covers, painted the Bus himself, and it has served its purpose for a fun family cruiser for several years.  It how has some signs of rust coming through and can either be continued to be enjoyed as it is or it could have those spots addressed to bring it to the next level, the choice is yours.

Some of the features to note include that it has a pretty darn nice original interior with all 3 rows of correct seats, nice panels, a very good original headliner, and the cool Deluxe items such as jail bars, rear seat luggage bar, body trim, and bumper trim are all present.

The Bus was originally solid Lotus White, a lesser seen color for Deluxes.  The body was painted years ago, an amateur job complete with orange peel, chips, sand scratches, and with the goal being putting the 1967 colors of Titian Red and Light Beige Grey on it, and giving it a cleaner appearance.  The job is OK, not nice, and it's been a very user-friendly Bus for that reason!  If it were nice it wouldn't be as fun to hop in and use the way we all used to do decades ago when old Buses were cheap and abundant.  Details to note include the Bus having all the correct doors, hatch, decklid, apron, pointed end bumpers with Deluxe trim, it's a desirable 6 popout window Bus, and it has the correct 14 inch wheels, too.  There are rust blisters showing including both doglegs and the front floor corners as well.  Additionally there is a spot of filler on the front of the driver's long side that was a mediocre repair with some uneven sanding and sand scratches that show in unforgiving light.  It looks alright for a driver.

The interior is fairly impressive with much of the original Aero Balearic and Sienna Beige interior still intact and relatively nice!  The headliner is original and way above average, the seats are all correct and early, and the panels are pretty good, too.  There are a few small items yet to be installed including some new front cab kick panels, some rubber seals, etc., and you can see those items on the rear luggage shelf pics.  Overall the interior is better than most drivers and still has a large amount of originality to it.

Mechanically the Bus features a 1600 single port engine, a stock big nut transaxle, stock suspension, and being that it's a 1967, it's factory 12 volt, too.  The tires are white stripe radials and have good tread left on them as well.  A rebuilt carb from Volkzbitz was just installed as well as a new 9 pin flasher unit from Wolfsburg West.  The gas tank sending unit is acting up and needs servicing as well.   It has been a fun occasional driver for the owner and his family in the wild climate of Alaska for several years now.

Overall a fun Bus, with some cosmetic needs if you choose to bring it to the next level, but enjoyable as a Bus to not stress about if you'd prefer to be more care free in your Bus ownership.  Thanks!
