1967 Westfalia Hardtop, Great Camper with Rack, Ladder, Tent, & Trip
Speedometer!
Here we have a very clean and respectable Westy
Hardtop just in time for the Spring and Summer camping season. This one
is exceptionally clean, solid, and a nice driver, too.
Some of
the features include having the desirable running gear combo of a 1500
single port engine, factory big nut transaxle, and a factory original 12
volt
electrical system. Also included are an original Westfalia wood slat
roof rack complete with both tags, an original accessory GHE folding
ladder, a 1968 style free-standing "drive-away" tent, and a rare
original trip speedometer!
The body is in nice shape, very
straight, solid, and is displaying a older respray in the original color
of L87 Pearl White. There are some stone chips and imperfections
around but it still displays very nicely. The worst spot cosmetically
is a ugly scratch on the rearward cargo door that you can see in the
pics on my site. The doors, decklid, apron, and both pointed end
bumpers are all correct for the Bus. The floors, rockers, and
undercarriage are all well above average as well. Additionally the Bus
has a pair of original dealer accessory "VWOA", Volkswagen of America,
elephant ear mirrors.
The interior is also nice with the original
mustard colored rear cushions, rear
folding seat/bed, cabinets, icebox, folding table, beautiful original
spice rack, and the original Westfalia flooring is still intact below
the carpet in the rear. The front seat has been reupholstered in a plain
grey upholstery and is clean and comfortable. The dash is in nice
shape with a working gas gauge, an original 1967-only radio block off
plate, factory 12 volt sticker, original windshield washer bottle still
intact, and the previously mentioned original trip speedometer as well.
The tan and yellow plaid curtains are original, too!
Mechanically
this Westy is fully turnkey with a bone stock and excellent running
1500 single port engine, stock 46mm big nut reduction box transaxle,
factory sway barred front end, and the very practical and desirable
factory 12 volt electrical system. The 1967 model year has always been
regarded as a very road worthy mechanical combination and has been
particularly popular with
collectors in part due to that fact. Additionally this Bus features
the factory dual circuit
braking system and factory reverse lights as well. I personally
drove this Bus last weekend and it runs super smooth and drives very
nicely with clean shifting and the steering is very nice and snug, too.
The horn, blinkers, headlights, high beams, wipers, taillights, gas
gauge, emergency flashers, and front dome light are all working. I
didn't try the rear camper lights or rear dome light. The shocks are a
newer set of KYBs and it has a decent set of radial tires mounted on
stock 14 inch Bus wheels as well.
This is a great opportunity
to own a desirable 1967 Westfalia that is in very nice condition and
comes complete with the optional wood slat rack, folding ladder,
drive-away tent, and the cool trip speedo. Thanks!
