1967 Westy SO-42 Poptop Walkthru
Here's a clean and desirable
1967 Westy Walkthru Camper that looks good and drives well. It
features a freshly rebuilt 1600 engine, factory 12 volt electrical
system, factory "big nut/freeway flier" transaxle, reproduction
Westfalia wood slat rack, the original child's cot, as well as a rare
original Blaupunkt radio that works, too. This Camper is a good one to
enjoy as it is plenty nice enough to be proud of but isn't too nice to
actually drive.
The body is very straight and clean and has a
great appearance for a driver. It was repainted years ago in the
original color of Pearl White. The roof above the rain gutters is
original paint and is gorgeous. The rockers on both sides as well as
the lower cargo doors, battery tray, and lower battery corner were all
recently professionally repaired and paint blended to match. There are
some light stone chips and dings around as well as some small paint
blemishes on the driver's dogleg but the Bus presents very well on the
whole. This Bus actually won loads of trophies at Volkswagen shows
across the Midwest during the 1990's. The front floor is very solid and
impressively clean, too. Other details to note are that both pointed
end bumpers, the push button decklid, rear hatch, apron, and all doors
are correct for
1967. The aluminum jalousie window frames are exceptionally clean and
shiny, too. The undercarriage was also cleaned and painted black to
make it look nicer and keep it cleaner during future maintenance as
well.
The interior is exceptionally clean, impressively
original, and very stock. Its features include the rear folding Z bed,
storage cabinets, original accessory jump seat stool, ice box, folding
tables, brand new Salt and Pepper front walkthru seat covers, brand new
grey seat stand mats, a beautiful original dash including the previously
mentioned original and working Blaupunkt radio, windshield washer
bottle, vintage compass, and the original 12 volt sticker on the dash,
too. The steering wheel is very clean but has some of the typical
hairline cracks in the corners. Other details to note are the recently
replaced poptop canvas, beautiful original Westfalia rear flooring, and
the original accessory rear mosquito netting. The tent
went missing some years ago and is not included however the original
child's cot is still present.
Mechanically this Westy is fully
turnkey, runs and drives nicely, and was recently serviced with
refreshed brakes, newer shocks, and brand new radial white stripe tires
on the powdercoated proper 14 inch Bus wheels. Other mechanical
features include the stock front sway bar, dual circuit braking system,
and the factory reverse lights, too. The stock single port engine runs
nicely with good power but has recently begun to leak a fair amount of
oil. For that reason a freshly rebuilt 1600 longblock is being
installed as I type up this ad and should be all buttoned up within a
few days time.
This is a great old Camper that is nice enough to be proud of but not so nice that you don't want to camp with it. Thanks!
